In rank two follows world number one Christian Ahlmann with 72 points, while Pius Schwizer is rank three with 70 points. The last leg to pick up points will be in Den Bosch in the middle of March, before the final takes place in Gothenburg the last week in April. Some riders are in the zone where more points could be needed; such as Marc Houtzager, Malin Baryard-Johnsson, Edwina Tops-Alexander, Gerco Schröder and Jeroen Dubbeldam – the latter three have to battle it out in Den Bosch for a place in the final as the eighteen best riders from the league get to ride in Gothenburg.

hansi-magnusHansi and Magnus Romeo did it! Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson. Hans-Dieter Dreher took home his first World Cup win in Bordeaux tonight aboard Magnus Romeo. The win has been waiting for Hansi for a long time; the German rider has done a tremendous job with the stallion that has turned out to be the horse of a lifetime for him. With eight riders going clear in the first round, it meant a perfect jump-off in Bordeaux. The faults spread out evenly around Uliano Vezzani’s brilliant track; a 13 fence course with a combination on a line at 7 a and b (oxer-vertical) and a triple combination at 10 a, b and c (vertical-vertical-oxer).

The World Cup in Zürich to Luciana and Lennox

luciana-lennoxAs always Luciana was showing her happiness. She and Lennox were superstars in Zürich today. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.Luciana Diniz and Lennox (Lifestyle x Grammus) proved to be best in the World Cup class in Zürich today showing off some brilliant riding around the difficult track. With nearly all the fences set at 1.60 it was a challenging course with a tight time allowed Rolf Lüdi had made for the riders, and especially the triple combination and the last line with a combination down to the final vertical proved to be difficult.

101 Frie Ch Ahlmann Taloubet ZChristian Ahlmann rules the showjumping world these days. Together with Taloubet Z he took home the win in the World Cup qualifier in Leipzig Sunday. Photo by Gerco Frie/FEI.For the ninth leg of the Rolex FEI World Cup in Leipzig, course designer Frank Rothenberger had built a nice course counting 13 obstacles and 16 fences. Jens Fredricson was the first rider to clear the course with Lunatic (Landlord x Utrillo) at start number four, and then Maikel van der Vleuten and VDL Groep Verdi (Quidam de Revel x Landgraf I) also managed to solve all Rothenberger’s difficulties as start number seven. Maikel was the first of three Dutch riders who qualified for the jump-off - both Marc Houtzager and Gerco Schröder kept up their good form and left all sixteen fences intact.
