After a really tough jump-off in the Grand Prix at Stockholm International Horse Show, Leon Thijssen from the Netherlands ended up winning with the fantastic stallion Tyson(Numero Uno – Voltaire). He was thus rewarded with a new Volkswagen that he could bring home. The Dutch rider won with more than 1,5 seconds down to the young Swedish European Champion, Douglas Lindelöw and Talina (Matterhorn – Heidelberg). These two riders were the only two clears in the jump-off out of eight competitors. The fastest of the riders with four faults was John Whitaker with the mare Dazzle (Kannan – Cavalier Royale).
"Dazzle is a British bred horse that we had since she was five. My daughter Louise has been riding her, and I just made my third show with her. So Louise did all the hard work, and today I tried to damage all her hard work", John said after the jump-off were he crashed into one of the fences. "I saw a long distance to the wide oxer, but Dazzle probably didn't see the same distance as me".
But John still has the chance to win a car as he has qualified to the Agria Nordic Tour tonight. In this class there are only five riders, and one car to win. The riders have qualified from Oslo Horse Show and Helsinki Horse Show in October. The best riders from both shows, the best Nordic rider and the best rider of the weekend are allowed to start.Since Malin Baryard-Johnsson - who just won a car as best rider in Stockholm - already qualified at Oslo Horse Show, John gets the chance to win his 90 car in his life.
Since Malin Baryard-Johnsson came out as the best rider this weekend and already had qualified in Oslo, John is now given the chance to win the 90th car in his life.
The other riders competing about the car are Anna-Julia Kontio, Leon Thijssen and Robert Smith.
Malin Baryard-Johnsson can already enjoy one new car by being the best rider throughout the weekend in Stockholm. After a great start on the indoor season, the Swedish rider followed up with several good rounds in Stockholm with both the mare H&M Tamina, who actually did her last show this weekend, and the wonderful stallion H&M Tornesch. Tamina will be put on-foal next year, and the stallion to be used will of course be Tornesch!
