Piergiorgio Bucci suspended

E-mail Print PDF

A decision by the FEI Tribunal from October 22 2010 regarding the Italian rider Piergiorgio Bucci and his horse Kanebo – silver medalists on the Italian team at the Europeans at Windsor last year – states that Bucci as the PR of the horse (Person Responsible) has been suspended from FEI activities until September 23 next year (18 months suspension). In addition FEI has suspended Bucci’s groom at the time, as he was considered Additional PR. The groom’s suspension from FEI activities is to last for three months; until January 1 2010.

The reason for the suspension is that the prohibited substances Capsaicin – that has caused numerous troubles before for other PR’s – and Nonivamide were detected in an urine sample taken from Kanebo at the CSIO5*-show in Abu Dhabi February this year. The B-sample analysis confirmed the one of the A-sample.

We are at this point not familiar with whether Mr. Bucci and his groom have appealed the decision from the tribunal.
